These summer cotton colours are lovely aren’t they? there are a 4 ply cotton yarn from Coquette in a colour range designed by Susan Crawford. (Gorgeous Yarns also has her colours in Excellana 4ply wool too.) I love the feel of this cotton range in use, it is smooth, has sheen and is silky to the touch. It knits and crochets beautifully, wears well and washes easily by hand. It holds good stitch definition so is suitable for lacy projects like shawls and shrugs as well as summer cardis and jumpers in stocking stitch. I’ve started a shrug in a mix of sunny summer cotton colours; its crochet and I hope it will pop over summer dresses and tops in the evenings to take the chill off my shoulders without having to put on a cardi. The pattern I’m using is from Inside Crochet issue 59 and its called Winter Mantle. Yes I know, I’m making it for the summer, but by adapting the pattern to use cotton, I think it will work. I just love the shape of it and the zig-zag design.
I’ve been looking at summer patterns on Ravelry. I particularly like the Summer Cotton Tee by Gabriella Clementine and Fluidity by Jennie Paluka. They would both look lovely with Coquette cotton, and with the range of colours to choose from, why not have a couple!! I’m always really inspired by what others have created, there always seems to be a pattern for everyone. Have a look and see….
Talking of summer tops, I have finished the prototype of a short sleeve jumper I have designed using Kettle Yarns Wimbledon. I worked hard to get the neck line and finish right, but I’m pleased with it now, so I just need to knit it in another size and colour way and it will be ready for you. I will initially be offering it as an exclusive, limited availability kit, with all the yarn you need, and the pattern and a few Gorgeous Yarns extras. This should be available after Proper Woolly at the end of May, but I’ll let you know the colour ways and numbers of kits when they are ready in the shop. After this, the pattern will be available alone and you can chose which colours you like. The kit will make a lovely present for yourself or a special knitting friend!
Have you seen, Gorgeous Yarns now have patterns listed on Ravelry (as tuesadygirl) and LoveKnitting (as Gorgeous Yarns.) In time, all our patterns will be available as PDF downloads from these sites as well as in paper copy from Gorgeous Yarns through the post.
We still have summer cotton colours from Nurturing Fibres, as a DK cotton and DK bamboo cotton mix. They are selling well, so if you see a colour you like, get it while you can. I’m crocheting a summer cowl in these yarns, also in summer cotton colours, so when that’s finished I’ll post a picture for you on our Facebook page.
Its always lovely to hear from our customers, especially with photos of their projects, and I’ll also post their finished articles for you to see and be inspired by. One customer this week placed her order on friday, and today said ”Eight beautiful skeins of Oakworth arrived this morning – I was not expecting them till early next week so it was a wonderful surprise. Your customer service is ACE! Thank you so much – and for the little gifts inside which are much appreciated.”
Do let us know what you are making, and send us pictures, we love to share the gorgeousness!
Bye for now,
