Purely Gorgeous, our own luxury natural yarn has arrived! It is 100% organic Falklands Merino, spun in the UK and totally natural, undyed and soft, soft, soft! It will be on our site very soon and available to buy for all those special projects you might have planned for yourself as the days get chilly, or as lovely gifts for the Christmas season. The yarns are suitable to skein dye or garment dye, or you can leave them Purely Gorgeous, just as they are. I have extensively swatch tested them, and you can rely on the high standards Gorgeous Yarns expects from any product we sell; these yarns are lovely to use, wash well (by hand) and knit and crochet with an even stitch definition. Just perfect for almost any project. We currently have DK and Aran weight yarns, but will be adding 4 ply soon, and may add a chunky or slub yarn to the range in the future. All weights are reasonably priced at £6.50 for 100g, so you can treat yourself to Purely Gorgeous luxury without a hefty price tag.
I am currently knitting up a new design using this yarn, and the pattern will hopefully be available soon too. Its a multi-way poncho/shrug/shawl/scarf. Sounds intriguing?
I love this time of year-there’s something about mellow autumn days that start misty and end with sunshine evenings, and autumn leaves, picking apples and making jam. I also love the idea that days will get colder (yes, I know, I’m alone with that one!) and I will have to get out all my favourite hand knits again to keep warm. The pleasure of knitting or crocheting with Gorgeous Yarns goes beyond the process of making, and lasts into the wearing, and the quality of our yarns means that with gentle washing, they will continue to look lovely for years to come. So you could say its an investment…..

I have been very focused and finished all the WIPs I confessed to in a newsletter early in the summer, including this orange cotton shawl, and the shawl I got so bored with!! So now I only have my current crochet project on the go, and the new pattern I’m designing, oh, and a crochet blanket I’m making, and some socks I promised to finish for M-I-L Lyn. Not so good finishing things as I thought! So many new things I want to make too!
Just some advance notice, Gorgeous Yarns will be at 3bagsfull in Liskeard, and at Woolly Weekend at Kelly House with our full range of needles, crochet hooks, hand made project bags, patterns and a selection of project kits. I am able to make up sets of needles or hooks to your requirements, and as a special show offer, sets will come in one of our silk cases. Our friend Perran Yarns, Steph Thornton will be at both events with her yarns which we proudly stock, so come along and say hello.
Check the website this week, we will be reducing the prices of 2 of our yarns to make room for Purely Gorgeous so grab a bargain while you can, and have a look at our new yarns too!
Bye for now,
Caroline
