Beginners Natural Dye workshop
This natural dye workshop for beginners is the ideal place to begin to learn about the techniques and beautiful colours from natural dyes.
I’ve set up this beginner’s class where you will learn how to create some beautiful results using traditional dye techniques. You won’t need any fancy equipment or a dedicated workspace – you can get started in your home kitchen.
During the 2 hour workshop via Zoom, I will teach you about natural dyed; the history of some of the plants which give colours, how to mordant yarns to fix the colour and how to prepare and use the dyes in a traditional dye bath to dye your yarn. We will also learn about fade resistant dyes (substantive) and fading colours (fugitive) and bust some of the myths around natural dyeing. We will also chat about the future of natural dyeing as we become more aware of the need to preserve the earth’s resources and live more sustainably.
You are welcome to join me as I set up and dye some yarn during the session as we go along. The colours shown for each month are examples of natural dyes, and may not be the dye I demonstrate that month.
The natural dye workshop will be taught via Zoom which is free to use and download to your computer. After purchasing this workshop you will be sent a confirmation email, with the zoom link. Please keep this safely and use it to log in to the workshop on the day. Only participants who have registered and paid in advance will be able to join the session.
Please note our refund policy does not apply if you change your mind after you have received the Zoom code for the workshop.
I am able to teach groups via zoom or in person by prior agreement with a minimum of 5 participants. Please email me for more details: firstname.lastname@example.org
