Blue Faced Leicester DK, Naturally Dyed

The yarn:

Blue Faced Leicester (BFL) yarn is the ideal choice for accessories and garments. It combines just the right amount of softness with great stitch definition for all your favourite DK patterns. Why have a look at  our patterns? It is especially good for knitting and crochet but can also be used for weaving and other textile art projects.

The colours:

Please  note, colours won’t always be from the same dye batch, so if you need more than 1 or 2 skeins, let me know and I can custom dye for you in the quantity you need for you project. These yarns are carefully hand dyed so there will be subtle tonal variations in the skeins which makes them even more beautiful!

All the colours are fixed with a mineral mordant (alum) which ensures they are light and colourfast. The dyes are all natural, and the mordant is safe and environmentally friendly. No nasty chemicals here!

Pale Pink: Dyed with Cudbear Lichen or cochineal for a soft chalky pink

Briar Rose: Another pink dyed with Cudbear lichen, more rose and heather toned

Bright Pink: Dyed with a strong solution of Cudbear lichen for a confident magenta pink. (Limited edition)

Purple: Logwood gives this rich purple tone

Peach: Madder gives lots of tones of peach and apricot

Rust: This colour is from the first dye colour of Madder

Green: Deep forest green is created with rhubarb root yellow and Saxon blue.
