Happy Birthday Gorgeous Yarns, 2 today! It seems amazing how fast the last 2 years have gone by, and how we’ve grown. From the early days of excitement choosing the most gorgeous yarns for you, setting up the site and “going live”, to the delight of wonderful customer feedback about just how gorgeous our yarns really are, not just in name…. posting all around the world… meeting old friends and making new ones at shows and events, to finding new yarns to share with you and planning for the future with more woolly loveliness!
In the past 2 years, I have taught myself to crochet and now write a monthly mini blog style article for Inside Crochet and love crochet almost as much as knitting. (I’m currently having a go at Tunisian Crochet, read next month’s Inside Crochet article to find out more!) Here’s a hint….

I have blogged regularly too, and written a monthly newsletter to keep our friends of Gorgeous Yarns up to date with what we are doing. I really enjoy the comments and conversations these social media posts generate and to feel that I’m talking to a friend when I write these posts. I know that some newsletter readers aren’t knitters or crocheters, they just like the luxury of lovely yarns, and enjoy reading about what I’m doing, and several readers are embroiderers who like the beautiful tones and colours of our hand dyed yarns.
I have designed several patterns these past 2 years and I am so proud to be able to say that my Oxford pattern is being featured in “The Knitter” magazine in the autumn. It is knitted in Purely Gorgeous which is our own very special 100% organic Merino range of yarn. I hope to be adding more yarns to this range in the autumn. (I’m currently swatch testing some Corriedale wool and trialing a pattern with it….) I’m also very proud to have designed a 2 patterns for the “Time for Teal” charity fundraiser for Target Ovarian Cancer, set up by my dear friend Lyn Roberts. (we met through silver crochet hooks!) More patterns are in progress, and several developing in my head just waiting for me to have the time to play with the ideas until they work and look right.
Gorgeous Yarns has been on the road, and been at quite a few shows and events these past 2 years, with more planned for the autumn. (Have a look at our Facebook page for more details of where we will be if you want to come and say hello!) Its always great fun to be at a show, feel the buzz of excited customers looking at all the stands, and to see what other people are doing, creating, selling and designing. I get so many ideas just being in this dynamic environment, if you’ve never been to a woolly event, do come along! I enjoy talking to customers, sharing the love of Gorgeous Yarns and helping you make the right choices for your pattern or project.
So what’s on the horizon for next year…?
More patterns, new yarns, more shows and generally more woolly, creative fun! Keep reading the blog and be the first to know what’s happening!
Happy Birthday Gorgeous Yarns!
Bye for now,
Caroline
