We’re Getting a bit Ho! Ho! Ho!

Getting a bit Ho! Ho! Ho!

Here at Gorgeous Yarns we are getting a bit Ho! Ho! Ho! We have several special festive offers going on, including our usual free gift wrapping for all purchases made in December.

Have you seen I am doing an Advent CAL? Its very informal, join me if you want to, and enjoy an hour of calm and crochet each day in the run up for Christmas. I did something similar last year, and found I really looked forward to that hour of quiet “me” time crocheting, and it gave me welcome respite from all the hustle and bustle of preparations.

You will need 600g of yarn. Use up all those oddments, or yarn you bought and have forgotten what you planned for it. Each 100g of yarn should then be divided into 25g mini balls, and ideally all the same weight of yarn, ie DK, Aran or 4 ply. I am using DK, and a 5mm hook to give a soft, slightly lacy effect. I hand dyed these yarns, with natural plant dyes in the summer and I’m looking forward to having a snuggly blanket at the end of it. Might go even more Ho! Ho! Ho! and put a lacy border on.

The pattern is as follows:

Row 1 with contrast colour, Ch 256, turn

Row2 (RS) with first main colour, join yarn into first chain, and chain 3,(stands as 1 tr) then Tr into next 2 ch, miss 1 ch1, (tr 3, miss 1 ch1) to end, finishing with last tr in last ch of row 1, dont turn,

Row 3 (RS) with contrast colour, join yarn into top of 3rd ch with 1 dch, (ch 3, dch into ch space between 3 tr cluster), repeat to end, finishing with dc in top of last tr of row, don’t turn

Row 4 (RS) with first colour, join yarn into dch of row, ch 3 (to stand as 1tr) tr 2 onto ch loop, miss 1 ch 1, (tr 3 into next ch loop, miss 1 ch 1) repeat to end, don’t turn

Repeat rows 3 and 4 until you have 4 rows of main colour, (I’m doing these 4 rows each day) then change to another main colour and continue……

I have timed myself and each 4 row repeat takes me about an hour and a half. Don’t be a slave to it, this is meant to be fun, a bit of Ho! Ho! Ho! and light relief. I’ll be posting regularly on Instagram so you can watch my progress and follow along.

This December, I am running a competition to win a “12 days of Christmas” bag of Gorgeous goodies. It will include hand dyed yarn,  Purely Gorgeous Yarns, patterns  and more. Each day I will post on FB the item going in the bag.

So, starting this Thursday, each time you share the (hopefully daily) post, you will be entered into the draw; each time you comment, you will get an entry, and every purchase from Gorgeous Yarns will get 10 entries to the draw. If you haven’t already “liked” Gorgeous Yarns on FB, then hop over and “like” us for another entry.  Lots of lovely ways to be part of the prize draw! Are you getting a bit Ho! Ho! Ho!
