Crochet with Gorgeous Yarns

Crochet with Gorgeous Yarns is a delight! I’m really enjoying learning to crochet, and it is starting to make sense to me now… the pattern and size of the stitches and how they fit together. I’m even getting better at keeping the edges straight! My latest project is finished, and I will be commenting on it in the March edition of Inside Crochet  magazine. I have used Perran Yarns Aran weight Merino and silk with a 4mm Chiao Goo crochet hook, and it made up like a dream! The sheen of the silk combined with the softness of the merino is, well, gorgeous! I’m so pleased with the result, and its a 1* pattern so ideal for beginners, though it doesn’t look like a beginner’s project when it’s finished. I call that a Win, Win! I’ve got to decide what to do next, the colours of the Christmas wreath I featured a couple of weeks ago are calling me and they want to be a blanket/throw, and the pattern I’d like to make is a 2* pattern. I think I’ll give it a go!

I’m making progress with the cottons and cotton blends for the summer. I am planning to stock Coquette cottons, DK and 4 ply in colours by Susan Crawford. Her colours are beautiful, and she does the Excelana colours too which are very popular, so I hope you like the Coquette just as much. I am also in touch with an Indie Dyer in south Africa and I am waiting to get samples of her yarn. I’m very excited about stocking her yarns as I have seen some of her work and it is just beautiful. She dyes gentle blended colours, with tonal variegation, and some dramatic colours to add an extra “pop” to your summer projects. I’ll let you know, and post some pictures when the yarn arrives and is being tested.

I’m please to say we will be stocking a few extra colours of Eden Cottage yarns soon. Victoria will be dying the lovelies for Gorgeous yarns over the next few weeks. I have added a couple of stunning blue colours and greens to the 4 ply and DK collections we have. This jumper is one that our customer Lyn has knitted with Eden Cottage DK Oakworth in Stone, Plum and Misty woods. It looks lovely and is knitted beautifully.

Lastly, dates for your diaries… Gorgeous Yarns are proud to announce… we will be at the Proper Woolly event on 30-31 May this year. It is being held at Holsworthy New Livestock market, with a wide range of exhibitors for all your fibre and yarn needs. I will be there with our yarn collection, and Chiao Goo needles and crochet hooks, Cubics needles and Soak delicates wash liquids. If you are in the area, please do pop in and say hello, have a look at Gorgeous Yarns for yourself, and have a chat about your WIP and projects you plan to do. The best way to understand how gorgeous our yarns are is to feel and touch them for yourself, see the beautiful hand dyed colours and see the knitted samples of our patterns.

Just a last picture to brighten your day in this very cold weather., the first snowdrops in our garden.
