What makes your dyes sustainable?
Our dyes are derived from natural, renewable resources such as plants, roots, flowers and bark. We avoid the use of synthetic chemicals and aim for low-impact processes using minima; water and energy wherever possible.
Will the colours fade over time?
Natural dyes age rather than fade. Our yarns are pre-treated with a mordant (alum) to help fix the colour and prevent fading. With proper care like gentle washing, colours should last for years developing beautiful, subtle variations. Avoid harsh detergents and prolonged exposure to sunlight to preserve the vibrancy.
What fibres work best with your natural dyes?
Natural dyes bond best with natural fibres like wool, alpaca, silk, mohair etc. They also work well on cellulose fibres like cotton, linen, hemp and bamboo though the preparation is more lengthy. Synthetic fibres like polyester, acrylic and nylon won’t absorb the natural dyes effectively.
Do I need to use a mordant?
Yes, in most cases. Mordants help fix the dye to the fibre and improve colour fastness. We provide guidance for safe mordants like alum, and include instructions with our kits. Soya milk is not a mordant, it is a binder and will not effectively fix natural dye colours.
What’s included in your dye kits?
Each kit typically has pre-measured dye materials, mordant if required and step by step instructions. Most kits also contain yarn, check individual product listings for details.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes, we can ship worldwide. Shipping costs for small parcels are calculated at checkout, based on your location. Local tariffs may apply. I am unable to post dye plant material to some countries, please check your country’s import restrictions on ordering.
Is your packaging eco-friendly?
We use recyclable, compostable or reusable packaging wherever possible. Our goal is to minimise waste throughout the entire product lifecycle.
How should I care for naturally dyed items?
Firstly, wash in cool water with neutral, mild detergent. Dry away from sunlight and dye knitted/crocheted items flat. This helps maintain the colour and longevity of your textiles.
Can beginners use your products?
Absolutely! Our kits are suitable for everyone and are designed for all skill levels including beginners. Always read the instructions carefully first, don’t use pans, spoons etc that will be used for food afterwards, and supervise children with these products.
Do you offer refunds?
Yes, once your return is received and inspected, (and is a resalable condition)we’ll issue a refund to your original payment method within 5 working days. Customers are responsible to paying for returns. This will be refunded along with purchase price if the item is found to be faulty or incorrect.

What if my order arrives damaged?
If your order arrives damaged, please contact us within 48 hours with a photo of the item and packaging. We’ll arrange a replacement or refund as quickly as possible.
